Rototest dyno pics, no DeTomaso content.
A colleague of mine had one of his bimmers dynoed today, mainly to prove to
other bmw owners that his car is stock when he blows their doors off on the
track ;-)
The test was done on a RotoTest wheel dyno, which differs from a roller type
dyno in that this is a real dyno. It adds more and more breaking force at a
specific rpm until the engine can't keep up any more.
This dyno is a Swedish design and is apparently used by many of the largest car
manufacturers and also the Toyota F1 team.
This model, which is an intermediate model, handles approx 600 hp and up to 300+
kph. They can also be had in a four wheel drive model, which handles more total
power, and also a model that can handle 350+ kph.
The car is a mid 80's M535, which from what I heard mechanically is equivalent
to a 535. It has over 300kkm (~200kmi) on the odo.
The only things that differs from stock is a better flowing exhaust, including
headers. It also has a cam from an emission controlled car, which apparently
only differs from stock in that it has a slightly larger lift.
He got almost 150kW on the rear wheels, which is about 204 hp. Not bad for an
old car!

I'm very tempted to take the P-car to them for a test. I need to fix my lean
condition first.
Cheers,
