About 6000 I believe.
I rebuilt the engine last winter, including honing and new pistons/rings, new
cam and lifters.
I filled it up with a mineral oil plus Crane cam break-in additive and did the
20 minute cam break-in, changed the oil (mineral) and filter.
I drove about 1000km on this to make the rings seat properly.
I changed the oil to Mobil 1 synthetic and changed the filter.
This was the setup during the trip to France and it did see some spirited
driving on the excellent French toll roads and not so excellent German Autobahn.
I guess the engine was hardly broken in when I installed this filter and it will
be interesting to see how this seasons filter look next spring.
I assume the trapped particles are from the bores and rings and perhaps also the
cam and lifters. The bearings should not loose any magnetic material.
Hmm, come to think of it, the timing chain, dist gear and valve train may also
loose some magnetic material, but that should not be much, or?
Cheers,
Thomas
