CNC turning center has been developed specifically

engineering transformations not only in terms of capabilities

5 new points are added to the machine as the basic
principles on which DAEWOO developed the machine,
PUMA 240 series. PUMA 240 Series feature a full lineup
of models ranging from general turning to milling
machining with sub spindle function.
Major components of PUMA 240 series have been designed
as modules. By simply replacing the sub spindle or
tailstock, or tool post, DAEWOO can quickly supply
customized machines that meet specific customer demands.
Thanks to increased use of standardized parts with
existing PUMA machines, the overall number of parts
has been reduced. For this reason, DAEWOO provides
you with the machines you need when you need them
without sacrificing quality or reliability.
like existing PUMA models, a servo motor is used to
index the turret. PUMA 240 series uses a 3-piece coupling
for positioning to ensure high-speed, high-precision
tool indexing of 0.15 seconds per station.
Moreover, feed rate is 24 m/min (944.9 imp) in the
X-direction and 30 m/min (1181.1 imp) in the Z-direction
thanks to optimized lubrication system in the slideway
and a high-speed ball screw transmission.
Based on PUMA 240 series turning center specifications,
rotary tools, 4.8 kgf.m(47 N.m) are available at all
12 tool stations of PUMA 240 series(M and MS type
machine). After first processing of general turning,
the second working such as milling, can be achieved
immediately without the need to move the workpiece
to another machine. High-speed rigid tapping is included
as one of the standards.
Sub-spindle, 4.8 kgf.m(47 N.m) with 5 degree indexing
is added for the second processing. When the first
process is completed in main spindle, the workpiece
is transferred to sub-spindle for the second.
A tool holder is the deciding factor between a machine
tool and the quality of the manufactured part, i.e.
realizing a machine potential requires top tool holder
performance. The cost effectiveness of single operation
machining on mill/turn centers depends on a high degree
on the functionality of the tool holder itself. In
order to meet the requirements, DAEWOO has applied
BMT(Base Mounted Turret, BMT55) concept and BMT type
rotary tool holder to the machine(M/MS type).
Rotary tool holders taken at the PUMA 240 M/MS series
are new BMT 55 type holders(called BMT55P rotary tool
holders) which obtained patent for an invention.
One of the most important features of new rotary tool
holder, BMT55P is the interchangeability with existing
BMT rotary tool holders. Alternatively, new tool holders
can be utilized in machines equipped with conventional
DAEWOO BMT turret. The innovative design allows you
to gain the benefit of new holder without the need
to discard the existing. Thanks to its improved rigidity
and performance, results of real test cutting show
the increased cutting capacity and performance about
50% increase, compared with existing rotary tool holder.
To reinforce ease operation of use and make Operator
Friendly Programming Environment, three kinds of conversational
programming solutions are prepared to support your
convenient operation in PUMA 240 series. Each application
condition is different on the controller type and
the machine. Easy to understand and straightforward
operator interface, interactive screens and powerful
machining functions are their key features.
5 points got shortened and lessened in machining
application of PUMA 240 series as compared with existing
machines. Shortened non-cutting time, Minimized power
consumption, Easy chip removal and improved cooling
effect of tool tip by variable high pressure coolant
application, 4.1bar, 7bar, 10bar and 14bar as optional.
The new developed PUMA 240 Series proudly symbolizes

turning machine) and 4-axis(X, Z-axis general turning
